As a family, we love to spend lots of time outdoors and I don’t hesitate in saying there are not many parks in Leeds which we have not visited. Children love the freedom of open spaces and as a childminder I will offer your child lots of time outside playing games, exploring and picnicking (another family favourite).

Locally, I attend a number of tots groups which are suitable for a variety of ages and offer the opportunity for minded children to socialise in larger groups.  We are also regular visitors to our local library, garden centres, swimming pool and playgyms. But we also love to explore new places.

We are very fortunate in Leeds to have a number of exciting and beautiful places to visit on our doorstep such as Lotherton Hall, Temple Newsam, Canon Hall and Eureka. Wherever possible, I aim to give minded children the chance to go on such outings a bit further afield to broaden their experiences and development.

All preschool children will have their own Portfolio and this will highlight their development along the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework. This statutory framework is universal across all forms of childcare applicable from birth to the end of Reception year at Primary School.

You will be able to access their portfolio whenever you wish and if you are anything like me, have tissues at the ready as it is incredibly moving to see your little one through the eyes of another person enjoying life, having fun and learning. They will also have a home diary which will give you the daily detail of our activities and include information such as what they have eaten, drank, and toilet/nappy changes. In addition, I will of course give informal updates at collection time.

Overall, I give children experiences in larger groups, small groups and 1-2-1 where possible. I will help them become familiar with the local community and also explore the wider world. Unlike nurseries, I can be as flexible as your child/family need with meal times/sleep times and can offer lots of time outdoors going on full outings when the weather permits! Most importantly as part of a small group in a home setting, I can assure you that your little one will be looked after with love and care.
